The family later acquired a herd of Guernsey cows and began making Drumloch cheddar, with its distinctive creamy flavour and natural golden colour. This famous cheese is now washed with Campbeltown Loch brine and has won several awards at prestigious competitions. A move from Gigha to Ayrshire brought with it a new herd. The Inverloch Cheese Co. now uses Ayrshire cows’ milk from the Ralston family farm at East Drumlemble. Ayrshire cows’ milk is the ideal milk for making traditional farmhouse cheddar.
